Phone Bridge: Use AI on your WhatsApp chats from your browser

Scan a QR code, pair your phone, and your AI agents can instantly summarise your WhatsApp conversations, draft replies, and surface action items — without uploading a single message.

What is Phone Bridge?

Phone Bridge is one of AskWek's most unique features. Think of it like WhatsApp Web — but instead of just mirroring your messages on a screen, you're giving your AI agents the ability to read and act on your phone data in real time.

You stay in your browser. Your phone stays in your pocket. The two talk through an end-to-end encrypted WebSocket relay. Nothing is ever stored on AskWek's servers.

How it works — step by step

Step 1: Open the QR code

In the AskWek web app, navigate to Settings → Connected Devices → Phone Bridge. The app generates a unique QR code that's only valid for 10 minutes.

Step 2: Scan from your phone

Open AskWek on your iPhone or Android. Go to Settings → Connected Devices → Phone Bridge → Scan QR. Point your camera at the code and your devices are paired in under 2 seconds.

Step 3: Your agents get to work

The moment your phone connects, your AI agents can access:

  • WhatsApp messages — summarise your unread conversations, extract action items, or draft replies
  • Contacts — look up people, find phone numbers, surface recent interactions
  • App notifications — get a digest of everything you missed
  • Phone activity — usage patterns, screen time, app data

Step 4: Ask anything

Once paired, just talk to your agents normally. "Summarise my WhatsApp chats from today." "Who messaged me from work this week?" "Draft a reply to the last message from Rahul." The agents handle the rest.

Why we built it this way

Most AI assistants that want access to your phone data ask you to upload your messages to their servers. That's a privacy risk and a trust problem. We refused to build it that way.

With Phone Bridge, the relay server is just a pipe — a live WebSocket connection. Your data flows from phone to browser, the AI on your browser processes it, and nothing is written to disk on our end. When you close the browser tab, the connection drops and the session is gone.

This architecture was directly inspired by how WhatsApp Web works. WhatsApp never stores your messages on their web servers — the browser is just a thin client that the phone talks to. We applied the same principle to AI.

What you can do with it

Here are the most popular Phone Bridge use cases our beta users loved:

  • Morning briefing — "Summarise all my WhatsApp messages from the last 8 hours" gives you a 30-second overview of your entire morning communication
  • Reply drafting — Paste in a conversation and say "draft three possible replies in my tone" — the WhatsApp Agent handles the writing
  • Contact lookup — "Find everyone I have saved from [Company]" searches your contacts instantly
  • Catch-up digest — After a meeting, ask "what did I miss while I was unavailable?" and get a notification and message summary

Privacy and security

  • Sessions expire after 10 minutes if not connected, and 2 hours if connected
  • Each QR code is single-use and tied to your user account
  • The relay server never reads message content — it just passes encrypted packets
  • You can disconnect your phone at any time from the Settings screen

Available on Premium and Platinum

Phone Bridge is a Premium and Platinum feature. If you're on the Free or Advanced plan, you'll see the QR screen but pairing is locked. Upgrade from Settings → Upgrade plan to unlock it.
